William Gu

William Gu is an experienced HR professional with 42 years of working experience, more than 26 years dedicated to the leading multinational companies like Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo, United Technologies, Dell Computer, ITT, KONE, APP.

William got extensive working experiences in leading multicultural HR teams. Due to his important contribution, William was promoted to the position of Senior Vice President of HR at KONE. William was based in Singapore, responsible for Asia Pacific & Middle East, covering more than 20+ countries and regions with strong culture diversity and business challenges.

During his in-house career, William managed businesses in different industries including FMCG, machinery and engineering, and high-tech sectors. He led many strategic business planning, organization development and leadership transformation initiatives in contribution to many success stories such as Pepsi overtook Coke market share in China in 1995; Dell computer surpassed HP in China in 2001; KONE became number 1 market payer in China since 2011.

William is also a trusted advisor both in-house and in executive leaders’ community. He is a VIP speaker for KOLs such as Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), China Economic Review, FESCO First Capital Forum, 2007 Kenexa World Conference and Marcus Evans (2014) 3rd Annual Global HR Excellence etc.

By the end of 2018, William retired from his in-house HR management career and started working as a consultant with multiple organizations, such as RBL Group (a consulting firm started by Prof. Dave Ulrich, one of the worlds’ leading Human Resource thinkers, focused on helping organizations and leaders deliver value) and Duke Kunshan University, sharing his practical experience accumulated through hands-on work with many organizations in leadership development & HR competency enhancement. His expertise covers human capital development, talent management & Strategic HR topics. Clients provide positive feedback and seek for long-term collaboration with him.
